HOW DO I...
OBTAIN TELEPHONE ADVICE?
If you want advice over the telephone you will be asked to leave your telephone number. A doctor or one of our triage nurses (it depends on the nature of the condition) will call you back.
HOW
DO I...
MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
All surgery
times are by appointment. We work as a partnership, and you may consult any doctor
in the practice. We will try to offer you an appointment on the day you request,
but it may be necessary to wait for a specific doctor.
AN URGENT APPOINTMENT
If you
have a problem which will not wait for a routine appointment, please tell the
receptionist. You will be fitted in to see the doctor dealing with emergencies
as soon as possible. Please only use this service for genuinely urgent problems.
CANCELLATIONS
Please notify us as soon as possible if you are unable to keep an appointment.
We may be able to offer the appointment to someone else.
HOW DO I...
OBTAIN A HOME VISIT?
If you need a home visit, please phone as early as possible ideally before 9.00am.
To assist us in arranging the priority of calls, please be prepared to give the receptionist some details of the reason for the request to visit.
Home visits are for those who are housebound or too ill to go out; otherwise, please come to the surgery. Difficulty with transport is not in itself a valid reason to request a home visit.
Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.
HOW DO I...
OBTAIN A REPEAT PRESCRIPTION?
If agreed
by the doctor you may receive regular medicines by repeat prescription. Once this
is arranged simply return the prescription re-order slip indicating where you
would like to collect your prescription. PLEASE ALLOW 48HOURS' NOTICE.
We will return a prescription to your home by post if you provide an SAE. All
patients on repeat prescriptions should see the doctor at least once during the
year.
HOW
DO I...
REGISTER
WITH THE PRACTICE?
All newly registered patients will be asked to complete a questionnaire and to
have a consultation within one month of registering with the practice.
This allows the practice to provide medical care in the interim period, while your medical records are transferred from your old practice to this one. If you move out of the practice area, you will need to register with a new practice as soon as you move. We can provide information about how to find a new practice.
HOW DO I...
OBTAIN RESULTS OF MEDICAL TESTS
These may be obtained by ringing 0141 812 3230 between 11.30am and 5.30pm. The
receptionist may then inform you of the result, or she may ask you to arrange
an appointment with your doctor to discuss your result. It is practice policy
only to give results of medical tests to patients over 16 and to the parents of
those below this age.
LABORATORY SPECIMENS
Specimens are sent to the hospital on Monday to Friday. If you are asked to bring
a specimen on those days please ensure that we receive it before 12 noon.
HOW
DO I...
CHANGE MY PERSONAL DETAILS
Please advise reception if you change your name, address or telephone number.
It would be a great help if you would also ensure that we have your telephone
number and your postcode.
